Chapter 464: Receiving the Command Tokens
Translator: Radiant Editor: Radiant
The World Deity guard left as soon as he delivered the Command Token, leaving the other thousand or so Deity experts to continue waiting in anxiety and helplessness.
It was very difficult to actually become a disciple under a powerful existence.
Even if they did enter the Bloodshed God Palace Battle, and even if they showed hope of becoming stage one World Deities in the future, such things were not worth much in the eyes of the powerful existences! These powerful existences of the Bloodshed God Palace would always have some disciples assigned to them, but unless they took the initiative to actually receive their disciples, they wouldn’t teach them too earnestly. Perhaps they would give a few casual pointers, grant them a couple World Deity grade secret techniques, or give them a few treasures treasures, but never more than that.
But even that was something the the vast majority of Deity experts could only hope to receive.
This was precisely why someone like Sacred Master Crimson Dust, who willingly opened his gates to give countless Deity experts as well as Demigods an attempt to enter the Crimson Rock Mountain, even handing anyone who could finish his test and become an outer disciples World Deity grade secret techniques, was seen as very generous all throughout the world.
“Congratulations, Brother Dong Bo,” Seventh Mei Yu said from nearby, albeit with a strand of longing hidden in his eyes. He also longed to receive a command token, but his comparatively worse luck made it so he didn’t even finish as one of the first hundred.
“Hmph.” Also nearby, Jiu She coldly snorted.
Xue Ying glanced and Jiu She and inwardly muttered, It truly seems that cultivation strength and disposition have nothing to do with each other! Even an intolerant and narrow-minded person like him was able to cultivate the Boundless Deity Heart.
Cultivation was the comprehension of the Laws of the Realm.
But there also existed such laws inclined towards darkness, savageness, and destruction amongst them. Perhaps those with more sinister dispositions were suited to comprehend these instead?
Weng. Xue Ying grasped the golden command token, and his consciousness permeated it. He immediately received the information it contained.
I, Gu Zang, would like to receive you as a personal disciple.
That was the only information the token had.
Even so, Xue Ying still inwardly sighed in relief. He now knew that there was at least one powerful existence willing to take him as their disciple, and a personal disciple at that.
“Who was it from, Dong Bo?” Seventh Mei Yu curiously asked by means of transmission.
“It’s from a powerful existence, Gu Zang,” Xue Ying sent back.
“Emperor Gu Zang? He is one of His Majesty’s treasured disciples,” Seventh Mei Yu transmitted in admiration. “Of all the powerful existences in the Bloodshed God Palace, Emperor Gu Zang is known as the most low-key, but as one of the Bloodshed God Emperor’s only two disciples, it’s only normal for him to have received a lot of focus during his growth. From my father’s words, he has was very fearsome on each of the very few occasions when he acted, though his true might is somewhat hard to pin down. It might even be close to that of the three ancestors.”
Xue Ying nodded.
As one of His Majesty’s personal disciples, Emperor Gu Zang had a very firm background! However, there was one major problem with taking Emperor Gu Zang as a teacher—he was too low-key! Just as Seventh Mei Yu explained, he was one of the most low-key members of the Bloodshed God Palace; she was not exaggerating. Once he became a powerful existence, he became even more low-key, to the point that he never even left the territory of the Bloodshed God Palace anymore. For the most part, he was always cultivating secretly in his lair!
More than a hundred billion years have passed since Emperor Gu Zang became a powerful existence, and even in those rare moments when he comes out, he never leaves the Bloodshed God Palace’s territory. All he does is cultivate in his lair! Xue Ying inwardly muttered. Would it really be alright to choose a teacher like him?
More and more people were being knocked out from the Bloodshed God Palace Battle, and while the number of Deity experts still inside decreased, the amount of venomous bugs being spawned increased. By now, they would only ever move in groups of eight to ten. Those groups with ten bugs were rarer, but even a possessor of a Bloody Slaughter Deity might easily die to them. Very soon, only five individuals who grasped grade one Deity Hearts were still holding on.
At this point, the grade one Deity Heart experts would being fighting each other as to eliminate the competition.
After all, as the number of participants decreased further and further, the powerful existences would also begin to send out command tokens.
“Dong Bo is done with the Bloodshed God Palace Battle. I’ve heard that the powerful existences will now begin inviting disciples. I’m not sure which of them will take Dong Bo as their disciple.” From all the Xia Clan Deities, the Purple Thunder Emperor was the first to speak.
“It doesn’t matter who takes him as disciple. They’re all powerful existences in the end!” the visibly dispirited Emperor Chi Huo said.
“There are differences even between powerful existences. Could any ordinary powerful existence ever hope to compare to His Majesty?” the Dragon Mountain Emperor expectantly said. “The way I see it, it might even be His Majesty who accepts Dong Bo as his disciple.”
“His Majesty is the strongest existence in the whole Deity world. Even the other two leaders from the Temporal Temple and the Myriad God Palace are slightly weaker than him. This is a well-known fact! Would an unparalleled existence like His Majesty ever care about instructing disciples?” The nearby Yun Hai shook his head. “If His Majesty were to accept a disciple, it would be no more than sheer luck; while if he doesn’t, it would be nothing but normal. It’s best to hope that some other formidable powerful existence will receive Dong Bo as disciple.
Jing Qiu raised her head and looked around in silence, though there was a trace of a smile on her face.
Xue Ying had put on an outstanding, dazzling performance in the Bloodshed God Palace Battle! His ranking might have already fallen from the top ten, but with how small the amount of time he cultivated was, he was more attractive to the powerful existences than any of those people with grade one Deity Hearts.
“It’s only those few grade one Deity Heart people still in the Bloodshed God Palace Battle. Dong Bo’s finished in the eleventh spot.” The White Sand City Lord smiled slightly as he stroked his pointed beard. “And those of the first eight all have grade one Deity Hearts. That’s a very good ranking for him. Hehehe, I can’t wait to find out whose disciple Dong Bo will become. For one of those three ancestors to take him in would be terrific news.”
The nearby Ink Cloud City Lord, Marshal Qin, King Rong Hai, and all the others drinking together smiled as they glanced toward the majestic main palace in the distance.
“One of those three ancestors? Hard to say,” the Ink Cloud City Lord said.
“Considering Pang Yi’s temper, it’s unlikely he’d take on a disciple. The Overlord of Destruction has lived a very long life, and he already has five powerful existences as disciples, so I don’t think he’d taking any more disciples either. The Bamboo Mountain Prefecture Lord’s disposition is proud and aloof, and he only rarely takes any disciples,” Marshal Qin assessed.
King Rong Hai laughed out loud. “Would anyone on the level of those three ancestors really care enough to take any more disciples?”
The stronger one was, the less they generally cared to take disciples in.
If they were in a specifically good mood to take on a few disciples, they would do so. But if they weren’t in that mood? One could be a grade one True Meaning Transcendent, and they still wouldn’t necessarily care enough to receive him!
What about being a grade one True Meaning Transcendent? Such people were very likely to become stage four World Deities. And even above that, even if they were so lucky that the small chance of them becoming a powerful existence happened, the three ancestors would still not care too much. So what if they had one more powerful existence disciple? What they cared about was their own strength. As long as their personal strength could move even the smallest step forward, they would find that more important than having their disciple become a powerful existence!
“Some of my old brothers up there told me that there should already have been three powerful existences who have sent Dong Bo their command token.” The White Sand City Lord was rather pleased.
In the highest area of the Bloodshed God Palace.
The Myriad Flower Feast was underway, with the nineteen hundred Deity experts now having joined the surroundings of this grand banquet. As the Bloodshed God Palace Battle neared its conclusion, not only did an even larger amount of venomous bugs appear, even some bugs comparable to stage one World Deities were now spawning. It wasn’t long before those final five surviving Deities with grade one Deity Hearts were also killed.
The powerful existences were now sending out command tokens one after another.
Xue Ying received a lot of attention from the powerful existences, having already received three different command tokens.
“Seventh Mei Yu,” under the fiery gazes of nineteen hundred Deities, a World Deity guard walked over to Seventh Mei Yu and handed her a command token.
“Is it really for me?” Seventh Mei Yu found it somewhat hard to believe.
The amount of time he cultivated was also rather short, at only 80,000 years! But even that was only a relatively young age for the the Bloodshed God Palace Battle. On top of that, he had only ended up in the 159th place of the Bloodshed God Palace Battle rankings. That might be somewhat near the front, but it was a rather awkward spot, being lower than the first hundred. The number of people who had received command tokens so far, including Xue Ying, was only six. Seventh Mei Yu himself couldn’t quite believe that he received a command token.
The World Deity guard left as soon as he delivered the command token.
Finding it hard to hide his emotions, Seventh Mei Yu hurreditly checked the information inside. His father had long since told him that his biggest wish of all was that Seventh Mei Yu would become a disciple under a powerful existence—that wish had finally been realized.
“Congratulations, Seventh Mei Yu,” Xue Ying transmitted.
Seventh Mei Yu was genuinely surprised. He looked back to Xue Ying with joy in his eyes and sent back, “It’s from the powerful existence, Monarch Mother Whirlpool.”
“Formidable,” Xue Ying praised. Mother Queen Whirlpool was a female cultivator and the dear sister of the Mysterious North Imperial Empress, who was comparable with the three ancestors in might and famous for her overbearing attitude. Her most famous exploit was a battle for treasure on the Moon Planet. In a rage, the Mysterious North Imperial Empress won a straight-up fight against nine other powerful existences. Those nine had joined hands, full of confidence, but they were not aware that the killing move comprehended by the Mysterious North Imperial Empress was perfectly suited to deal with group attacks. As soon as she displayed that move, she beheaded three powerful existences on the spot, while the other six immediately fled.
That event granted the Mysterious North Imperial Empress an outstanding reputation, and no one dared to rashly provoke her afterward.
The Mysterious North Imperial Empress was similar to the majority of powerful existences in that they were all free and leisurely. She had not pledged her allegiance to the Bloodshed God Palace, the Temporal Temple, or the Myriad God Palace.
Even so, Mother Queen Whirlpool was the direct sister of the Mysterious North Imperial Empress, and they shared an extremely deep relationship. If anyone were to dare to provoke her sister, the Mysterious North Imperial Empress would stop at nothing to take care of the problem! Mother Queen Whirlpool was similarly protective, while her disciples were all women.
For the most part, powerful existences were not concerned over the battles of their disciples. If they were to die, they could only blame it on their skill being inferior to their opponent’s. After all, without the experience of true life-or-death tempering, how could those disciples truly grow?
However, there was also an extremely small number of powerful existences who were extremely protective! They were fine with their disciples bullying others, but would act as soon as they saw them being bullied in return!
“Hmph.” Sitting not too far from Xue Ying and Seventh Mei Yu, Jiu She had seen both of them receive command tokens and couldn’t help but become even more bitter. He was, after all, a Deity expert with a grade one Deity Heart, yet not a single powerful existence had granted him a command token so far.
