Painting of the Nine Immortals is a Chinese novel that falls under the genres of Xianxia and fantasy. It has been written by Autumn Morning. The story of the novel revolves around a young, 14 year old boy Ling Xian who defies the ideals and values of heaven.

Ling Xian’s failure to practice Taoism has deep rooted causes that are unveiled with time. Over the course of the novel, the protagonist interacts with and develops interest in a number of characters. Just the way Alchemy comprises of a total of nine realms, the quality of a Dan can also be ranked on nine levels. Not every Dan is meant to be consumed. Due to this the monks have to be really selective while choosing it since only the one that is high in quality can be used. The cultivation of Taoism is a process that requires contact with spiritual elements that exist between the real world and the fantasy world. The speed and efficiency of the cultivation process depends on the abilities of the cultivator himself.
