The Abandoned Hero is Going Home is a Japanese language light novel. The Japanese light novel has been written by Naname44° and the illustration has been done by Shizuki Hitomi.

The novel falls under the genres of adventure, comedy, fantasy and isekai. The isekai novel revolves around a boy named Ogata Yuuto. Ogata Yuuto, in the comedy novel, along with a classmate of his known as Hijiri Youichi is called to a different, completely new world. Hijiri is very handsome. The different world in the adventure novel that they are summoned to is actually a fantasy world.

It is the kingdom of Elnea. Princess Lilia of the kingdom of Elnea wishes to summon only one hero from a different world so that the hero can help her out amidst the chaos. However, she ends up summoning two of them. But once Hijiri and Yuuto are both there, princess Lilia only acknowledges and considers Hijiri to be the true hero. However, in the fantasy novel, Lilia does not Yuuto back to his own world.

Instead, she leaves him here in this world and basically abandons him. This stresses Yuuto out considering that he has absolutely zero knowledge about this new, different and completely unfamiliar world and the kingdom of Elnea.

He hates it here considering that he misses his everyday life a lot. Here, he cannot even have his favourite fast food. He does not want to stay here. Yuuto wants to go home and so he goes on to find a way through which he’ll be able to go back to his home, to his actual world instead of being stuck here for the rest of his life.

The novel follows the themes of summoning and transportation as the story of the novel continues to be unfolded.
