Chapter 34 – Idiot Disciple
Yuan Chu rubbed her chin. “And it looked like she was about to kneel to me. It seems as if she had come specifically to find me… but I’m an outsider. Why did she come to find me? Weird…. Too weird!”
Ye Chenyuan pursed his lips. He had noticed a burnt up teleportation talisman in her hand. To appear in their room, it was obviously planned.
Perhaps she had wanted to beg for help, or maybe it was a trap! But since he believed in the fewer complications the better, he didn’t want to tell Yuan Chu.
Venerable Li also added, “Enough, stop thinking about it! No matter what that woman came here for, that’s another family’s business. We should probably not meddle.”
Ye Chenyuan also nodded. He didn’t want his master to be in danger because of unrelated people. Plus, the Zhou family had a Nascent Soul, and that Zhou Daofu was a late-stage Nascent Soul.
But, just as he nodded, Yuan Chu jumped up and knocked him on the head!
Very unhappy, Yuan Chu puffed out her cheeks.
“Why are you all like this?”
Her voice was righteous, and she looked at Ye Chenyuan with a fair yet accusing expression. “Us cultivators should help the weak, not avert our eyes to any trouble! What if you could save someone’s life with the effort it takes you to lift your hand? Would you still watch from the sidelines?!”
And as a troublemaker who loved to meddle, stopping her from investigating when there was obviously something odd going on was simply too unforgivable!
Venerable Li and Ye Chenyuan were astonished. They hadn’t thought that she would have such awareness at such a young age.
Her words shook Ye Chenyuan to the core. He was a bit guilty. Compared to her, his mentality had a long way to go.
Thus, the successfully brainwashed Ye Chenyuan resolutely said, “Master, you’re right. Ridding demons and defending dao, that is the role of us cultivators. Since we came upon it, we should clear up the matter.”
Only now did Yuan Chu smile. “That’s my good disciple!”
Venerable Li couldn’t help rolling his eyes towards the heavens seeing the harmonious master and disciple pair. He knew clearly that Yuan Chu just wanted to have more fun, so at the hint of a conspiracy, she dug down and refused to leave.
This… One who loved to make trouble, the other who blindly agreed, how was he going to live?
In the rear courtyard, the Zhou family had prepared food and drink, just as they’d been told.
Zhou Daofu personally poured Yuan Chu a cup of spiritual tea and sighed.
“If it weren’t for you rushing to leave, I would have wanted you to stay a couple more days. Our Lihaiqian Province has nothing else to offer, but our scenery isn’t half bad.”
Yuan Chu laughed. “I wanted to stay too! But our sect master doesn’t let me stay out too long. He always says I’m young and don’t understand things, that the outside world is too dangerous!”
At these words, Zhou Daofu looked at Yuan Chu’s soft and immature face and his mind shook slightly.
His intentions unclear, he said, “It is quite dangerous.”
He placed the teacup next to Yuan Chu’s hand. “This is tea brewed with flower buds of the Joyous Union Tree. Coupled with Thousand Manifestation Water, it has a nourishing effect on your arteries. Try it.”
Yuan Chu raised her eyebrows slightly. “The Joyous Reunion Tree’s flowers? Then I’ll have to try it!”
She picked up the cup. There was another scent mixed in with the flowers. Ye Chenyuan frowned. It seemed to be… Incense Flower?
Venerable Li also reacted, transmitting his voice to her. “Don’t drink it! There is Incense Flower added into the tea. It agitates the originally calming spiritual tea and gives you illusions if you drink it! There is a risk of Qi Deviation for people with unstable souls!”
But Yuan Chu didn’t seem to hear him. She continued to raise the cup to her lips. Ye Chenyuan panicked and reached out to stop her, but Yuan Chu grabbed his hand.
“Don’t worry, you’re still at Qi Condensation right now. This kind of high-grade tea will have the opposite effect if you drink it. Once you’re strong, you can come back to the Zhou family to try it.”
Zhou Daofu didn’t discover any abnormalities between the two. He smiled. “Exactly. Most people’s cultivations wouldn’t be able to bear the medicinal power. This disciple shouldn’t try it today.”
Yuan Chu was not to be denied. She restrained Ye Chenyuan and traced words into his hand while drinking the entire cup of tea. Ye Chenyuan’s eyes widened. He didn’t understand why she was doing this. Did she not drink it? Had she used some sort of diversion?
Seeing that she drank it and sensing the pink spiritual energy permeating into her stomach, Zhou Daofu stroked his beard and laughed.
Sure enough, once Yuan Chu finished drinking it, a red blush appeared on her face as if she had drunk wine, and illusions appeared in front of her eyes.
“Little friend, Dao Friend Yuan?”
Yuan Chu heard Zhou Daofu’s laughing voice from above.
“If you’re tired, sleep. Hahahahaha…”
When Yuan Chu woke up, she found herself in a prison, but that was within her expectations. What made her angry was that she told Ye Chenyuan to immediately wait in the Sky Pearl and she’d go get him, yet he didn’t. He was locked up with her!
“Master, you’ve woken!” Yuan Chu was greeted with Ye Chenyuan’s pleasantly surprised voice, but his injured appearance made her heart ache.
“Why didn’t you listen to me? Hadn’t I told you to wait in the Sky Pearl? Why did you follow me?”
Admonished, Ye Chenyuan lowered his head. After a moment, he softly replied, “I don’t want to go into the Sky Pearl.”
Instantly, “I was worried about leaving you alone.”
He said it so earnestly. He could have hidden and watched the show, but because he was worried about her, he followed her even through the injuries.
Yuan Chu saw his devoted eyes and slight smile, and she suddenly felt a bit sad. His concern was so pure, Yuan Chu couldn’t find it in herself to chastise him.
She used her short little arms to hug him, a tight and forceful hug.
“I’m your master! Don’t worry about me!”
Her voice was fierce, but she felt a bit guilty. She was used to taking risks, being recklessly, and doing whatever she thought. But now, it seemed she couldn’t do that because this little fool would be in danger as well.
He knew she wouldn’t put herself in any serious danger, yet he still wouldn’t let her go. Was her seven-year-old appearance really that unreassuring?
Being hugged by Yuan Chu, Ye Chenyuan froze for a moment. In the next second, Yuan Chu started transferring a steady stream of spiritual energy to him. Surprised, he immediately cried out, “Master, you can’t!”
Yuan Chu raised her head, and his pretty eyes stared tensely back at hers. “Master, there isn’t any spiritual energy here. You shouldn’t give me yours. Protecting yourself is more important!”
Yuan Chu glared at him. “Idiot!”
He was thoroughly foolish! Where did that sly and two-faced bastard from her last life go? He was worried about her? Did he not realize he had suffered serious internal injuries?
